Castle!

Castle is a game idea I’ve had for a little while and is something I’m excited to finally have time to work on. At its core, Castle is simply a puzzle-based sidescroller. The goal is to provide a very challenging (at times) experience where you have to solve puzzles to escape a castle. The puzzles are going to range from basic math, those sliding tile picture puzzles, and all sorts of other fun things.
So today I sat down to actually start working on the game. I snagged one of George’s sprites and found a free brick texture online and went to it. I tweaked the tile engine a little bit to accommodate my new file structure as well as to improve the tile collisions. Took me probably three or four hours to get the base for the game in place. I have a little guy who moves around and behaves just like a character in a sidescroller should. Now I get to move on to programming all the puzzle triggers and timers and all the fun stuff.
I also decided to make a small video showing the game. I’m not sure why it’s so glitchy; it really doesn’t play like that. Must’ve been my screen capture or the YouTube compression. Oh well.
Would love to see the source for just this! =)
Looks pretty sweet so far ![]()
